Disciplinary & Appeals Panel Chairs & Members - British Cycling
British Cycling is currently seeking applications for its Disciplinary & Appeal Panel (“the Panel”). The Panel is a pool of impartial independent decision-makers who may be called upon to form a Disciplinary Committee or Appeal Committee, as provided for in the Disciplinary Regulations for Cycle Sport or the Great Britain Cycling Team Programme Membership and Major Events Selection Policy.
Disciplinary: The Panel has jurisdiction to conduct disciplinary hearings and impose sanctions on persons or bodies subject to the Disciplinary Regulations for Cycle Sport. It may also hear and assess any objections made against Disciplinary Committee rulings.
Athlete Appeals: The Panel also has jurisdiction to hear appeals brought by athletes challenging decisions of the Athlete Selection Panel who select riders for the Great Britain Cycling Team programme and major events.
Applications are sought for legally qualified members who will chair Disciplinary & Appeal Committee hearings and also for wider Panel members who need not be legally qualified.
Members will have current or previous experience in legal practice; disciplinary procedures; judicial process; equality/ employment tribunal; or child protection and safeguarding. They will also have an understanding of the sport at a grass roots and amateur level and/ or elite level, along with an ability to assess, dissect and make informed reasoning, concerning evidence and arguments brought before the Panel.
