Reporting to the DBA Board through the President, the General Manager is responsible for implementing the association's vision and strategy and will provide overall leadership and strategic direction for all areas of the organisation. Working at the domestic, representative and semi-professional level of the sport, this includes “hands on” operational leadership of day-to-day operations, managing relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring the effective generation of income streams through sponsorship, program delivery and other related services and strong financial leadership within a closely monitored annual budget.

The General Manager should possess excellent communication skills and leadership qualities to successfully manage, support and mentor a small highly committed team of paid staff and volunteers. The role will work closely with the Board through regular, open and clear upward communication regarding all relevant matters including governance, risk, financial reporting and strategic issues management.

To be considered for this position, you will be an experienced operations leader who is well versed in managing member and stakeholder relationships, with the ability to secure, maintain and service commercial partners, with an emphasis on local businesses. You must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently. Importantly given the diversity and the scale of the responsibilities, you must be able to quickly adapt your daily routine to manage high level tasks and at times “roll up your sleeves” and be very hands-on to support association activities.
