British Dressage is the National Governing Body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of dressage in the UK. Following 15 years of international success, the sport is enjoying a public profile like never before, with over 17,500 members taking part in more than 2,500 days of affiliated dressage competition every year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join British Dressage (BD) in the important role of Development Officer for Scotland. Working from home, but involving extensive travel across the country, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing our competition and training throughout Scotland, promoting and developing British Dressage in the region.

The Development Officer is responsible for co-ordinating and organising activity in the Scotland region, in line with the strategy and policies agreed by BD’s Technical Committees and Board of Directors. We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive and energetic team player, with excellent organisational, inter-personal and communication skills. You will need to be independent, proactive, and self-motivated, ideally with an in-depth knowledge of dressage.
Reporting into the Regional and Volunteer Manager, work closely with, and under the direction of, the volunteer Regional Committee for Scotland, which includes a Chairperson and representatives for coaches, riders, judges, para dressage, youth, and marketing. The individual in this role will be the main point of contact for all stakeholders in the region, so a highly personal and diplomatic approach is required, with strong relationship management skills.
